Do yourself a favor

Go here.

It's odd, because if my memory serves me right, I have posted on book art before. But look at the obsession!!!! Look at every page...there are so many pieces.

What do you guys think?...

Hey team Nesbit,
I could really use some more input on the performance piece. I'm kind of in a crucial place with things and I can use all the help I can get.

Thanks for the comments I have received so far,
Jamie

hey, check me out I'm awesome!

I view art making as a response to everyday happenings; 'I Put Her on the Shelf' is a project responding to death, 'Taking my 10' is a video about working at starbucks, and the sculpture entitled 'Eleanor' is a project that touches on friendship.

Recently, I have been selling myself to graduate schools and struggling with the concept of 'coming into myself' or 'being comfortable in my own skin'. The combination of the two has been an interesting and emotional experience that I responded too with the performance entitled, 'Hey, check me out I'm awesome!'

This project consisted of a silkscreened costume of myself, a homemade sign, and a wicked dance playlist. I asked a group of local artists to observe the performance and document it with anything they wanted; they used pen and paper, digital SLR's, crappy little cameras, iphones, ect. Each participant received a cd with the playlist I was listening too so that they could follow along. The cd also acted as the time element in the performance, demarcating when I would start and stop. For the actual performance I danced on a busy street corner for an hour in costume with my sign in the fashion of a street promoter.

'Hey, check me out I'm awesome!' enabled me a tangible reaction to the confusing process of self discovery. The result of which has lead me to be comfortable with the fact that 'I'm an Interesting Person, and People Like Me'--which is going to be the title of my next performance.

What do you guys think?

Hi. I am working on this. It's going to be a painting. Actually, it will be turning into a series.
Before I say anything more...what are your first thoughts?

a studio and other types of things.

Here is a cozy picture! The corner of my room I will call "my studio". Apologies for the quality...a long story there involving stolen goods, a French girl named Morgane and freaking .Mac email.

What the balloons?

This is neat-o.

By Jason Hackenwerth. From his show titled "Orgasmoebic." Yeah, I know.

hahahaha

doh!

I forgot to tell margo that whenever there is a write up about a show that I am in some way involved with it usually turns my way....due note one yoga show write up.

nothing to do with art whatsoever.

Jimena is sick. She vomited all night, even when there was nothing in her to vomit, and I held her hair back as she did. Her parents took her to the hospital around 4.30am and I stayed in bed cold, sweaty and worried. We are watching cartoons this morning, I have not showered and well, just wanted to say that to someone, the internet.

LOL

I am currently reading a highly recommended, truly hilarious, and poetically insightful book titled, The Sex Lives of Cannibals-telling the story of a young man who goes to live on a small atoll in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You would think it would be Paradise, and at moments it is-but it is mostly eating a lot of uncooked fish, listening to "La Macarena," and dealing with people shitting on the beach.

Nevertheless, I just came across this little tidbit that made me laugh out loud and think of Kenobi and her car rides to and from Monterrey with Jamie-
"If you have never driven a manuel-shifting car alone with an uncaged cat, I recommend that you go to great lengths to avoid the experience. I deluded myself into thinking that the cat would sit quietly in the passenger seat, but in fact moments after I started the car he found his way to the top of my head, which he used as a perch to leap toward the window, which sadly for him, was closed, causing him to experience a not inconsiderable amount of panic, which he manifested by ripping me to shreds, pausing only to relieve himself."

Hypochondriac's Guide

Stendhal syndrome is a psychosomatic illness characterized by rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion and sometimes hallucinations. The purported cause: Exposure to art, especially when the art is perceived to be unusually beautiful or abundant, such as when visiting a museum.
The condition is named after the French author Stendhal (pseudonym of Henri-Marie Beyle) who described these symptoms after visiting Florence, Italy in 1817.
