I am honestly very excited and honored to be participating... It makes me happy to see you guys holding each other to good healthy studio practices like this. The nerdy teacher/parent in me is very proud.
I'm still in Minnesota, heading home to LB tomorrow... and so I'm hoping to take some time on Wednesday to sit down and ponder your work.
Until then... it's all crap.
or not. actually, it's not. at all. I will say this, on first impression, you succeed in keeping me in the gallery... and I'm notorious for walking in an out of galleries quickly if I think it's crap.

No worries my friend.
I neglected to mention that typically after posting most nesbiters hibernate for a few days. Science has yet to tell us why; my hypothesis (excuse) on the subject is rooted in busyness, procrastination, life, shame, jealousy, defeat, and all those fumbly ideas that are sparked by the sight of interesting work, only to fall out of my mouth in the form of, "oh, that's cool".
Take your time, buy yourself some tea (or beer) and pretend that we payed for it; and then, when your belly is full and your heart is merry comment on our crap.
I echo everything Jamie has written and will add that I spent all of yesterday sitting, listening to my bassoonist neighbor, writing and reading. Nada.
Kurt, thank you again. Glad that you went home and yes, we will buy you a tea-beer.

okay, so I lied about Wed. morning... but I'm working on it, I'm actually drafting responses in another window... and I hope to wrap it up for y'all tomorrow.
but for now, I'm off to drink beer (with a friend, for dinner... not simply because you all encouraged me to)

just wanted to say thanks so much for being our guest critter. .....and you just feel free to drink as much as you want while working on those critiques-at least for mine, anyway.....
i also had another slightly random thought that i wanted to throw out there-to you, as a professor, and to nesbit as future volunteers for this endeavor.
here it is:
a summer three week excursion (modeled after skowhegan, baja, and l'abri) at my parent's farm in butternut, wisconsin. i thought you would be the guy for the job because of your recent work going back to your home/the midwest......plus you love l'abri......we need to discuss this.
also-have you ever brewed your own beer? i have started growing hopps in my garden and i want to try it.......
so, yeah...i can't decide if these are good ideas or if i just need to get more sleep......

First, Butternut is the new Baja -- YES!
Second; nature, art, artists, midwest, farm, etc -- YES!
